Alum Rock Park After A Spring Rain

Alum Rock park is in the city limits of San Jose. Debi and I have hiked there on occasion, only inhibited by the fact that no dogs are allowed. But, now that Mo is gone, we go there more often, as a) it’s a spectacular spot and b) it’s relatively close.

Walking up the path into the park from the parking lot, the creek that drains the park, which normally runs a babbling brook levels, was swollen by recent rains. It was easy to imagine an earlier time, a more primitive time, in this part of California. It’s hard to believe this is still open space, in the middle of California’s third largest city, San Jose.
