A Nice Saturday

Youth Science Institute
YSI of San Jose

Deb and I took a “hike” in our favorite park in San Jose — Alum Rock Park.

Walking by the Youth Science Institute, pictured here on the right, we noticed a lot of activity taking place in the park next to the YSI building

Here’s what we saw:

It looked like a group of girls, one of whom was holding a bird.   So we walked over to investigate:

Sure enough, there were two girls, holding owls — one adult and one juvenile.  I wonder if they were related … the owls, that is!

What was that girl doing on the lawn, sitting down, I wondered?   So, imagine my surprise when I moved a bit to see:

Now, that’s something you don’t often see – a tame eagle, just sitting in a park.   In the middle of a city.  On a Saturday morning.

We walked on and left everyone there, but I still find it a bit amazing.
