We Live In Interesting Times

I got back from a hike with Debi about 10a California time, only to see a number of emails from Caleb, wanting to talk about a business idea. He suggested we “do a quick Skype” [call] to exchange ideas.

I said yes, he called — video call — and we were holding a crystal clear conversation when he pointed out that he was in a Tokyo hotel room and it was the middle of the night — tomorrow morning at 3am to be precise.

“See,” he said. “This is what I’m eating!” He said he bought it because he could tell, by the picture, what it was. Otherwise “You never know. The brown stuff in the indecipherable wrapper might be food, or it might be shoe polish!”

Still, the idea of a “quick video call” to your son in Tokyo still amazes me.
