Inaugural Post – Why Do This

I thought it would useful for me to outline what I want to accomplish by making this blog.

I plan to start taking a more public profile — professionally and personally.   Some of that will be on existing sites — LinkedIn (for professional bio and recommendations);  Facebook (for friends, who will see a broader range of what I share);  Plaxo (out of loyalty); and a few others.   I’ll post most of my professional work elsewhere, specifically Nodal Partners or Director Extraordinaire.

But I’ll keep this for mainly personal stuff — observations that have no “purpose,” some memories that probably mean nothing except to the people involved (or maybe my family), and mini-essays that will help me form and express some views that, broadly, are social, political, spiritual or simply personal.

I don’t know where this goes…   but … here goes!

I did my back exercises earlier today and I feel better already. I’ve struggled with lower back pain periodically for over 30 years — as do many tall, heavy men, especially those who get out of shape, have sedentary and/or stressful lifestyles.  Happily, though, I didn’t get surgery.  Instead I discovered a “program” which has…

Never use…

  • Kaha Lani #228

We just came to terms with the seller of a condo on the eastern coast of Kauai.   Closing in mid-June. It’s a wonderful location, right in the middle of a park.  This picture doesn’t show the new Kauai Path that runs along the shoreline.  The beaches are amazingly white and nearly deserted.  Just north…

  • Genetic Legacy?

Last Friday I had some surgery to relieve the symptoms of Dupuytren’s contracture. My father had the same operation late in his life, too. It turns out to be a genetic condition afflicting primarily males of northern European descent. That means I have probably passed this along to my sons, and, less likely, to my…
