Chapala Bus from Ajijic to Guadalara

There are two classes of service:

  • Servicio Plus (aka “Chapala Plus” or “Directo” service).
This is express service on cushy, air conditioned busses that make limited stops between Ajijic and the old bus station in southeastern Guadalara — the “Central Vieja” (map).  Running time: about 60 minutes.  Cost 65 pesos.
  • Servicio Regular (aka “Regular Service” or “Indirecto” service).
This is “local service” on regular Chapala busses, making frequent stops between Ajijic and the Central Vieja (old) bus station.  Running time: about 90 minutes.  Cost 52 pesos.

Routes:

Both the Plus and the Regular services originate in Jocotopec and come through Ajijic on the Carreretera (the main road from Joco to Chapala – aka Route 23),  They stop in front of the Ajijic bus station (map). See below.  It’s best if you buy your ticket in advance at the ticket window inside the bus station, which is a small space with one ticket counter a dozen or so seats and little else.

The bus comes from Jocotopec and stops briefly in front of the Ajijic bus station.   Purchase your ticket that day, inside the station and have it ready when the bus comes.

After leaving the Ajijic bus station, the two routes diverge:

The Plus bus turns at Walmart.  “X” marks an optional place to board. (Click to enlarge.)   You can purchase a ticket for 65 pesos when boarding the bus here at Black Coffee/ Laguna Mall.

The Regular Service goes to Guadalajara via downtown Chapala
